Just in case you were holding on to some preconceived notions about people from the South, I want to clear some things up:
White dudes can’t dance down here either.
My best friend, Devon, posted this on her wall. She’s like… She’s the one that always has her finger on the pulse of underground hiphop and she understands what makes great music and what is really wonderful about danceable tracks.
And to top it all off, my mother makes an appearance on today’s Facebook screenshot:
When the Bankhead Bounce was big, my mom used to relish embarrassing me with her rendition that she inexplicably called the Buckhead Bounce. She would lurch her shoulders forward and hold her hands in front of her as if she was holding an invisible broom handle, fists stacked end on end. She’d stick her tongue out and sort of… twitch/shrug. It was… amazing.
It’s our duty as parents to embarrass our children right? Right!
Ok, I need to jet. I’m still trying to learn how to Dougie.
