I’m glad you’re here. This is the second incarnation of my personal blog. The first, Freak Bacon, was a blog I started incognito while I was making fun of online dating on Date Wrecks. Understandably, when you’re exposing creeps and perverts that are trolling online dating sites, you get your fair share of hate mail. So, needing a personal space to write about everything else, I started Freak Bacon.
The story behind Freak Bacon is silly and not worth getting into, but suffice it to say, it revolved around my life as a dating, single woman. When I met my fiance, it didn’t fit.
It was hard to write about my life in this new personal space in my life with Freak Bacon sitting at the top of the page. So I imported all of the content from the old blog to this new blog. This process isn’t without glitches, so you’ll come across a few weird characters and maybe a broken link or two. If you do, let me know when you find them so that I can clean house.
So, same Jami (sort of). Same purpose (sort of). New space. Welcome.
Update: I’m not really even here anymore… Find me at JamiMays.com where I’ve been writing on the newest incarnation of my journey of journaling.

The story behind the new title:
I’ve always loved Ani DiFranco. Well, no… I take that back. I didn’t discover Ani until I was in my early twenties, but since the first moment I heard Pretty Girl, I have felt like she continually takes my life and my struggles and sings about them.
This song, in particular, has been resonating with me lately. Shaking myself loose of the expectations that people have for me and deciding to make my life exactly what I want it to be… Even if it’s a little imperfect.
The lyrics that speak to me:
we get a little further from perfection
each year on the road
i think that’s called character
i think that’s just the way it goes
better to be dusty than polished
like some store window mannequin
touch me where i’m rusty
let me stain your handswhen you’re pretty as a picture
they pound down your door
but i’ve been offered love
in two dimensions before
and i know that it’s not all
that it’s made out to be
let’s show them all how it’s done
let’s do it all imperfectly
